Glemsford's Station disappeared in 1967; the sign lives on

Glemsford's Railway Station was closed in 1967; the station sign, at least, has been preserved

Glemsford Local History Society

The Society has now been in existence for more than 13 years. Since its inception, it has been dedicated to preserving and investigating the fascinating past of this corner of Suffolk.

The original force behind the Society was the late Richard Deeks who, in his lifetime, did more than any individual to research the history of the village.

Since 1993, the Society has published (sporadically) a newsletter containing members' contributions, again dedicated to developing the knowledge of Glemsford's place in history.

I am hoping to include in these pages extracts from previous editions of the newsletter and, in future, to publish the whole text of new editions.
