More Suttles

Rose Sillett has been in touch from Australia with more details about her search for the Suttles, and has included this fascinating picture.
She writes:
I am sending this photo I found by chance.
It shows my family tree members. My grandfather Willfred Suttle. b.1898.Pump Lane, Glemsford. He is 2nd from left back row.
I believe the lady in the large hat on right is his mother,Susan Suttle. b. 1863. don't know her maiden name ?
The others (not the younger children ) are his brothers and sisters.Florence Kate.1882. Martha 1884. Ada 1886 Mary.1890 ? Albert.1893.
The man with the moustache ? David Suttle ??1863...
Can any other person researching or related to the Suttles, shed any light on who's who.
And who are the children?
Florence Kate m.John Arthur Barnes, and had children.
Gertie m. E. Barnes: are they their childen?
Thank you all.
So: if you can help, please get in touch with me.

Suttles and Porters

Two very familiar Glemsford names form the focus of a request from a regular correspondent, Rose Sillett, in Australia:

I found in the 1881 census my grt, grt, grandad David Suttle b.1863,mat weaver.

He had a sister Rebbecca b.1865 yarn warper(mat), Caroline b.1868, scholar, Ellen,b.1871,scholar.

They all lived with their parents in Pump Lane,Glemsford at that time.

I have not found any more about Caroline or Ellen.

Does anyone know anything about them?

I was able to point Rose at a probable marriage between Ellen and Charles Gridley Porter, which produced children with the familiar names of George and Alma Porter, among others

But of Caroline there is still no sign. And where was Charles in 1901?

Any further information on either girl would be gratefully received.

Usual routes: comment or via email to me.

Crick family

I would very much appreciate contact with anyone researching the Crick family from Glemsford (also links with Suttle & Watkinson families).

My g-g-grandfather was David Crick, the Manager of the mat making factory.

I'd also be interested to know if there are still Cricks living in Glemsford.

If anyone can help, please contact me on
lorrainefd@hotmail.com

Many thanks,
Lorraine

A Suttle Question

Rose Sillett has a question, aimed at Janet Jarmin, but which others may be able to help with, too:

"I understand that you may have some information on the name of Suttle. My Grandfather Wilfred Suttle was born in 1898 and died aged 35 yrs, due to malaria caught whilst serving in W.W.1.He had 2 brothers (possibly 3) and a sister. His father was David b.1863.and his father John b. 1831 married to Hannah b. 1834. My grandfather's brother who was his best man at his wedding on Aug.4th 1924 to Ada Brown at the Parish church Glemsford. Was in the W.W.1 but what happened ?
That's all I know.....Rose."

So: can anyone help?
