By the passing of Miss Caroline Kate Allen, of Egremont Street, Glemsford, whose death occurred last week at the age of 90 years, Glemsford has lost one of its oldest inhabitants.
Miss Allen, who was a native of the village, was a member of a very old Glemsford family, being the second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Alfred Allen, of Egremont Street. Many years of her life had been spent away from Glemsford, but she returned on her retirement about 30 years ago.
In the absence of the Rector, the Rev. A. C. Harpur officiated at the funeral at the parish church.
Mourners: Mr B. Allen (brother), Mrs M. Mayhew (sister), Mr and Mrs R. L. Allen (London), Miss M. Stebben (nephew and nieces), Miss R. Byford, Mr and Mrs S. A. Game (cousins), Mrs M. E. Broadbent (friend). Mr W. Allen (New Zealand) (brother), Mrs Stebben (sister) and Mrs G. K. Watson (Wales) (niece) were unable to attend.
