GLEMSFORD LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY

LOCAL SCATTER WALK 2006

I am very grateful to Patrick Hemphill for sending me details of another Local History Society event that took place in the village in July.

On the evening of 13 July we held a very successful "Scatter Walk" around the Churchgate/Bells Lane area of Glemsford, followed by Cheese & Wine at John & Margaret King's abode.

The object of this “scatter walk” was to answer as many clues as possible, in any order within a given time.

For those of you who couldn't join in at the time, here are the questions:

While some clues may be pictorial, some cryptic and others plain devious, they are all within easy walking distance of Churchgate but in various directions (a bit of local knowledge may be helpful!).
You may attempt the quiz individually or in small groups by any (legal) mode of transport; it might be advantageous to work out your route first based on the clues you wish to tackle.
You will be instructed at what time to return to John & Margaret’s home for wine & cheese, prize giving, etc.
Take extra care of traffic – it is not necessary to walk in the road to find the clues. Good luck!
